Privacy Policy
Introduction
At CodeCrack, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform.
Information We Collect
We collect information that you provide directly to us, including:
- Account information (name and email from Google when you sign in)
- Payment information (processed securely by Paddle, our payment provider. We never see your card details)
- Code you write and submit when solving problems
- Mock-interview choices, credit history, written transcripts, code history, run results, and feedback reports
- UI preferences you set (color theme, editor settings)
- Limited signup context, including where signup was initiated and whether it followed a CodeCrack Google ad
- With your permission, browser visit identifiers, advertising click identifiers, device and viewport information, and recordings of public-page and problem-workspace interactions such as clicks, scrolling, navigation, code edits and scratchpad contents, including work you have not submitted. Account details, form values outside problem workspaces, live interviews, private reports, payment fields, and audio/video are excluded from these recordings.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Authenticate you and maintain your logged-in session
- Process purchases through Paddle
- Save your code so you can pick up where you left off
- Run and recover mock interviews, evaluate the complete written interview record, and show you interview history and feedback
- Remember your preferences (theme, vim mode, etc.)
- Detect and prevent abuse or unauthorized access
- Measure aggregate use of major product steps and understand whether new accounts reach the service's core features
- We may use your email address to contact you with occasional, optional questions about your experience with CodeCrack to help us improve our products and services. You can ask us to stop sending these requests at any time by replying to the email or contacting [email protected].
- With your consent, review visitor journeys to improve the site and measure advertising. Consenting visits may be linked to your account, signup, and confirmed purchases.
Legal Bases for Processing
We process data as necessary to provide the service under our contract with you. We rely on legitimate interests for security, fraud prevention, service reliability, and aggregate product measurement, and process records when required by law. Optional visitor analytics, session replay, and advertising attribution rely on your consent, which you can withdraw through Privacy choices in the footer.
How Long We Keep Your Data
We retain different data for different periods, based on what each piece is for:
- Mock-interview choices, credit history, written transcripts, code history, run results, and feedback reports are kept for as long as your account exists. CodeCrack does not store raw interview audio.
- Account information (email, name, subscription state), code you submit, and course progress — for as long as your account exists. You can request deletion at any time.
- Login records, including timestamp, authentication provider, limited signup entry point, and acquisition source — for as long as your account exists.
- IP address and browser-identifier strings on submissions and logins — up to 365 days, retained for fraud and abuse prevention; erased thereafter.
- Operational server-side logs — 30 days.
- Optional session recordings: 30 days. Linked visit timelines, device information, advertising attribution, and visit/account links: 90 days. Returning does not extend an older visit. Withdrawal removes affected recordings from review immediately; the daily cleanup removes stored files. Database backups expire after seven days.
- Authentication cookies in your browser — up to 30 days; CSRF cookies are deleted immediately after login.
Information Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We share data only with:
- Paddle, our merchant of record, for payment processing and sales tax (stores billing info under their privacy policy)
- Third-party authentication services to verify your Google login
- A third-party AI service provider, to process live mock-interview audio and context, produce automatic text transcripts, and generate final feedback from the complete written record. Final feedback requests are configured not to retain provider application state. The provider may retain API abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days under its applicable data controls.
- Cloud and infrastructure providers that host and operate CodeCrack.
International Data Transfers
CodeCrack and its service providers may process your data in the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers use applicable adequacy frameworks or contractual safeguards. Information about these safeguards is available in the published data-processing terms of our cloud, payment, authentication, and AI providers.
Data Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS. We never store passwords—authentication is handled through Google OAuth. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights
Under GDPR (if you are in the EU/UK) and CCPA (if you are a California resident), you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete your account and associated data ("right to erasure").
- Receive a copy of the data you provided to us in a machine-readable format ("right to data portability").
- Object to processing based on our legitimate interests, such as abuse prevention.
- Restrict processing where applicable law provides that right.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
Exercising Your Rights
To exercise any of the rights above, contact us at [email protected]. We respond to verified requests within 30 days.
Cookies & Local Storage
Essential storage supports the service. Optional storage starts only after you accept its purpose. You can change your optional tracking choices or delete this browser's recorded visits through Privacy choices in the footer:
- Authentication cookies (keep you logged in for up to 30 days)
- CSRF protection cookies (security during login, deleted immediately after)
- Local storage for ordinary problem code, active mock-interview editor drafts, editor preferences, and anonymous course progress
- Tab-scoped session storage for a pending mock-interview request identifier. Connection tickets and live-session packages are not saved in browser storage.
- Cookie preferences are remembered for 180 days, including rejection. Optional visitor identifiers last at most 90 days; a visit identifier lasts at most 24 hours. Consent records are retained while needed to support the associated data.
What We Don't Do
Unlike most platforms, we do NOT:
- Send session recordings or browsing histories to Google or third-party analytics platforms. Our own analytics and replay run on CodeCrack's AWS infrastructure.
- Install tracking pixels (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Serve advertisements or share data with ad networks
- Track your behavior across other websites
- Sell or share your data with data brokers
Terms of Service
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using CodeCrack, you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our platform.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, and able to form a binding contract, to use CodeCrack. CodeCrack is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
The Service
CodeCrack is a platform for practicing coding interview problems. We provide:
- Curated coding problems with automated test validation
- Video courses teaching problem-solving methodology
- A browser-based code editor supporting multiple languages
- Solutions and explanations for each problem
- Live AI mock interviews with a coding workspace, written transcripts, and feedback reports
Account & Authentication
You sign in using Google OAuth. You are responsible for the security of your Google account. We do not store passwords. Do not share your login credentials or let others access your account.
Subscriptions & Billing
Complete Access is a paid annual subscription that includes access to most problems and course content plus five mock-interview credits for each completed paid period. You may also purchase one mock-interview credit without a subscription. Your purchase is made through Paddle, our merchant of record — Paddle is the seller you contract with for the transaction. Paddle handles payment, invoicing, sales tax/VAT, refunds, and any statutory cancellation/withdrawal rights under its own Buyer Terms and Refund Policy (linked below). Auto-renewal is off by default, and you can manage or cancel your subscription anytime from your profile.
Mock-Interview Credits
Each mock-interview credit permits one live interview. The credit is committed when the interview starts. Voluntarily ending an interview after it starts does not automatically return the credit. CodeCrack may return a credit when the service cannot complete the interview, and unused credits remain available on your account even if a subscription later ends. These in-product credit rules do not limit the refund or statutory rights described below.
Your Content
By submitting code to CodeCrack, you grant us a license to store, display, and use your submissions to operate and improve the platform.
Acceptable Use
Don't do these things:
- Share your account or subscription with others
- Scrape, copy, or redistribute our problems or content
- Submit malicious code designed to attack our infrastructure
- Attempt to bypass subscription requirements
- Use automated tools to mass-submit or brute-force solutions
Our Content
Problems, solutions, videos, and course materials are our intellectual property. You may not redistribute, republish, or resell them. You may discuss general problem-solving approaches publicly, but not copy our exact problem statements or solutions.
Code Execution
We execute your code in isolated sandbox environments. While we take security seriously, you run code at your own risk. Don't submit code that attempts to escape the sandbox, access the network, or consume excessive resources—such submissions may result in account termination.
Service Availability
We strive to keep CodeCrack available and minimize disruptions, but the platform is provided "as is." We cannot guarantee specific outcomes from using the service. Occasional bugs or maintenance windows may occur.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, CodeCrack's liability is limited to the amount you've paid us in the past 12 months. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
Termination
We may terminate or suspend your account for violations of these terms. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, your access ends and we delete your account data, other than limited records we retain for the periods described in our Privacy Policy (e.g., fraud-prevention logs).
Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated via email or site notice. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and any disputes will be handled by the state or federal courts located in Indiana. Nothing in these Terms removes or limits any mandatory rights you have as a consumer under the laws of your country or state of residence.
Refund Policy
14-Day Refunds
We offer a full refund within 14 days of your purchase, no questions asked. To request one, just email [email protected].
Cancellation & Payments
You can cancel anytime from your profile to stop any future renewal. Payments are processed by Paddle, our merchant of record.
